Vancouver.

After all the excitement of the last few days we now find ourselves in Vancouver for 3 nights, let’s see what amazing things we can explore here!

Our hotel room in the Sutton Place Hotel, or should I say apartment, which, I think has more floor space than my own home is amazing. It even comes complete with a balcony so we can sit outside and watch the world of Vancouver go by!

Living in an English seaside town where all the buildings are smaller, much smaller, I do love to see cityscapes and skyscrapers, even more so in the dark. I could have sat there for hours!

Day 1.

Before we could head out for the day my partner needed an emergency dental appointment, which was sorted very quickly and easily by the hotel’s concierge. The most bizarre thing about this was that I could stand outside the dentist and watch everything that was going on through the window!!

Anyway, onto the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. It is as it sounds, suspension bridges, skywalks, lakes and wildlife all set in what is called a ‘Temperate Rainforest’. The downside to this is you have to go over the very bouncy 137mtr long pedestrian suspension bridge which spans the river Capilano that is just 70mtrs below you to get into the best part of the park!

The trees, they are just amazingly tall!

If you haven’t had enough of the heights then there’s always the 213mtr cliff walk to finish the day, now we really did need some stiff drinks after all of that!!

We used public transport to get there but as we were leaving we found out that there was a free shuttle bus that runs from Canada Place, downtown Vancouver and back which departs every 15 minutes. This incidentally is also where free shuttle buses run to Grouse Mountain and back.

Day 2.

Grouse Mountain. Home to the best views of Vancouver, an amazing lumberjack show, a grizzly bear habitat, great food, a chairlift ride to the peak and much, much more. Oh and don’t forget the gondola skyride to get you up to start with!

Another absolutely amazing day out. Canada definitely just keeps giving more and more wonderful sights!

Back in Vancouver we had just enough time to have a wander around the streets, look at the amazing architecture and to see the world famous Gastown Steam Clock. I thought it was really old, yet it was only built in 1977!

Sadly this is all we had time to see and do in Vancouver! I guess we will have to return another day………. As tomorrow the next part of the adventure begins, RV collection day and then we are out onto the open road!!

Luckily today there was no rush, we are being collect from the hotel late morning by the people from Fraserway who will take us to their RV depot. This means we get time for a nice breakfast and plenty of time to pack the suitcases (again)!
