Japan 26thMarch to 12th April 2025
Japan had never really been on our radar of places to visit until a few years ago when we watched a program on one of those many available TV channels where James May travelled (Top Gear Presenter) travelled from the top to the bottom of Japan on a train, After this we did a little research and found that it was a pretty expensive trip! So it was placed on the back burner so to speak.
A few years later, well actually it was late last year! We came across an online company which specialises in all kinds of overseas trips but they had what was called a 'self guided tour' of Japan. To be honest it was way cheaper than anything else that we had looked at but, being that much cheaper, what's going to go wrong with the trip was sitting in the back of my mind! So a bit of research into said company we found they were an ABTA member and also ATOL protected so really it was a no brainer! We selected out itinerary and booked a trip to Japan!
We purposely went with a self guided tour as I know of several people who have visited Japan on organised trips which were fairly short and had very little, if any down time. Plus we wanted to get the best out of the Blossom Season, this was our main aim, so being rushed around with a bus full of other people for the whole trip didn't appeal to us! However we did have three excursions included in our trip, but this left us plenty of time to do as we pleased and also to be able to take in the amazing country of Japan at our own pace!
People keep asking when I was going to write this blog, and to be honest with our hot and very dry summer and also being self employed has left me with very little time as I usually do this kinda think when it's raining! So today it's raining so i'm finally making a start on it!
Below is the itinerary we had for our trip to Japan. I will gradually add more to this blog over the coming weeks.
Itinerary.

Now, although this looks like a busy trip we could select our own bullet train times so we could maximise our time in each of the destinations. We also had various passes for the metro, busses, trams, castles and islands included in our trip price for every stop, which made life much easier. We also had a local sim card given to us upon our arrival in Tokyo along with our welcome pack, everything i've just listed and much more.
